Forest Lake Dedication Ceremony
Forest Lake dedication was held at 11AM on Friday, September 15, 2006. In addition to the public, elected officials and staff from the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District (MPWMD), Carmel Area Wastewater District (CAWD), Pebble Beach Community Services District (PBCSD) and representatives from Pebble Beach Company attended the dedication.
The completion of the Forest Lake project is a major accomplishment for the Del Monte Forest and surrounding communities. The project spanned more than 10 years from the early 1990’s to the first water deliveries to Forest Lake in the spring of this year. Forest Lake is part of an overall $65 million project financed by Pebble Beach Company. The project converts the golf course historical use of over 800 acre feet of potable water to a reliable long-term recycled water irrigation source.
Forest Lake has also demonstrated its value as a fire suppression water source this year, when a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) helicopter made round trips between the lake and a fire, in less than one minute to help suppress a recent wildfire in Del Monte Forest.
