Hazardous Weather Warning

January 26, 2020

Del Monte Forest Residents:

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Warning for Monterey County, anticipating – a combination of gusty, erratic winds and rain – in effect from 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 26 until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 27.  With the predicted weather pattern, there is potential for power outages, road closures and minor flooding.

Pebble Beach Community Services District (PBCSD) is coordinating with Cal FIRE, Pebble Beach Company and other agencies to activate additional resources in preparation for the storm.

There are two fire stations in Del Monte Forest. The main station is located on the corner of Forest Lake and Lopez roads, and the Carmel Hill Fire Station is located near the Highway One gate in Pebble Beach.  Those stations are staffed and equipped to respond to incidents in Del Monte Forest and will have additional resources on for critical times during the storm.  Sand bags are available at the main fire station at 3101 Forest Lake Road.

Pebble Beach Company has prepared and staged critical equipment to respond to incidents and will have staff on standby to cut any trees that may fall during the storm.  Pebble Beach Company has increased their 24-hour security patrol units to assist in closing roads that may have trees or power lines down.  Please be aware that barricades are placed on roads due to hazardous conditions and should not be moved or driven around.

If you are driving and a power line comes down onto your vehicle, please stay inside the vehicle and call 9-1-1.  Do not attempt to exit the vehicle until you are told to do so by Emergency personnel.  With wind and rain, we can expect that trees will fall and close roads for a period of time.

If you have not done so already, we encourage you to sign up for text emergency alerts.  To do so, text “FIRE” to 211-211.  You will receive a text confirmation, and from there, respond with your zip code to receive notifications specific to Del Monte Forest.

It is during the most difficult circumstances that we are reminded how important a close-knit community is.  If you see anything out of the ordinary, please do not hesitate to call Pebble Beach Security dispatch at 625-8428, or in the event of an emergency, call 9-1-1.
